This is one of the Indo-Chinese version which can be served directly or as a side dish along with Chinese recipes.
Meal maker balls are coated with cornflour and other blends of spices and then deep-fried to get crispy balls. It is then coated with flavoured sauces to give juicy texture with crispy balls.
When compared to similar Chinese recipes Meal Maker Manchurian is packed with soya proteins.
Tips to make perfect Soya Chunks Manchurian Recipe:
- Do not boil soya chunks, instead put them in boiled water so that they turn soft.
- To remove the chewy texture, squeeze water and shallow fry or deep fry to give a crispy texture.
- Some meal makers turn soft immediately and few take time to take care that does not turn mushy when squeezed.
- Remove chunks from boiling water and put them in fresh cold water so that they turn cold fast and can be squeezed easily.
- When making Manchuria gravy, if you like to have juicier then add a bit of water along with sauces or else keep it dry.
- Usually, when balls are cooked for a long time they may turn chewy. So toss for a minute or two on high flame.

Soya Chunks Manchurian Recipe or Meal Maker Manchurian is one of the evening time snacks which is not only healthy but also delicious.
Ingredients
- Meal maker/ soya chunks – 100 gms.
- Water – 2 bowls
- Corn flour – 1 ½ tbsp.
- Maida/ all-purpose flour – 1 tbsp.
- Salt – ¼ tbsp.
- Soya sauce – 2 tbsp.
- Schezwan sauce – 1 tbsp.
- Black pepper powder – ¼ tbsp.
- Oil – to deep fry
- Ginger – 1 tbsp. finely sliced
- Garlic – ¼ tbsp. finely sliced
- Onions – 1 medium size
- Capsicum – ½ cup
- Green chilly – 1 No. finely sliced
- Red chilli sauce – 1 tbsp.
- Tomato sauce – 2 tbsp.
- Vinegar – 1 tbsp.
- Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp.
Instructions
- Usually, we cannot use soya chunks directly so boil water and once they turn hot off the flame and soak chunks till they turn soft.
- Transfer to another bowl having cold water so that chunks turn cold.
- Squeeze and remove water from them and transfer to mixing bowl.
- Add maida flour, cornflour, little soya sauce, schezwan sauce, salt and black pepper powder.
- Mix all ingredients and let all spices get coated well to soya chunks.
- Heat oil and bring it to the optimum temperature, add above chunks in oil and deep fry at low to medium flame.
- When they turn golden brown colour and turn crisp, remove from oil and drain excess oil.
- Transfer to another bowl and keep aside.
- In a pan heat oil and add finely sliced garlic and ginger pieces. Saute for a second.
- Add onions, capsicum, green chillies, soya sauce, tomato sauce, chilli sauce, little schezwan sauce, salt and vinegar.
- All the above sauces give sticky and Chinese Manchuria favour.
- To get gravy mix water in cornflour and make cornflour mix.
- Our version is a bit dry, if you want to have gravy or saucy type then add a bit more cornflour and water.
- Add meal maker balls and toss them on high flame.
- Once you get thick and sticky output, garnish Mealmaker Manchuria with coriander leaves and serve hot before they turn chewy.

How to make Soya Chunks Manchurian Recipe:
1. Add two bowls of water and bring it to boil. Put soya chunks and press to absorb hot water and turn soft.
2. Press chunks so that they merge in hot water. When they turn soft to transfer to cold water and squeeze water and put them in another bowl.
3. Sprinkle cornflour, maida, ½ tbsp. salt and 1 tbsp. soya sauce.
4. Add ½ tbsp. schezwan sauce and black pepper powder. Mix well.
5. Heat oil and start putting meal maker balls and deep fry on low flame till they turn a golden brown colour.
6. Drain excess oil and transfer Meal Maker Manchurian to another bowl. Keep aside.
7. Add 2 tbsp. oil in a pan and add finely sliced ginger, garlic and onions.
8. Put capsicum, finely sliced green chilly, chilli sauce and soya sauce.
9. Add tomato sauce, ½ tbsp. salt, vinegar and ½ tbsp. schezwan sauce.
10. Put some water in cornflour and mix to remove lumps and then add this liquid to the above sauce to get thick and sticky gravy.
11. Put fried chunks and mix for a while till the gravy is coated well. Garnish Soya Chunks Manchurian Recipe with coriander leaves and serve hot.
