Potato Rice Recipe is one of the simple recipes which can be prepared in less time. It is one of the best monsoon recipes and your kid loves to eat.
Potatoes need to be sliced into small pieces to medium pieces so that they can be cooked easily. We can even substitute with baby potatoes.
Potato Capsicum Rice doesn’t need any munching curry, it can be used directly. If you feel this recipe is a bit spicy for your child, you can use any raita or even sprinkle few drops of lemon juice.
You may also like Onion Rice, Carrot Rice, Poha Recipe, Hara Pulao, Egg Fried Rice and Vegetable Fried Rice.
Potato Rice Recipe, How to Make Potato Rice recipe, Potato Capsicum Rice
Ingredients
Measurement: (1 cup=200 ml.)
- Potato – ½ bowl 200 grams
- Cooked rice – 1 large bowl.
- Onions – 1 cup finely sliced
- Capsicum – ½ cup.
- Sprouted green peas – 1 cup
- Ginger garlic paste – ½ tbsp.
- Turmeric powder – ½ tbsp.
- Red chili powder – ¾ tbsp.
- Garam masala powder – ¼ tbsp.
- Lemon - ½ piece
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp.
- Salt – 1 tbsp. as per your taste
- Oil – 1 spoon
Instructions
How to Make Potato Rice Recipe:
- If you already have cooked rice it's well and fine or else cook the rice separately.
- Meanwhile, slice potatoes into thin pieces, keep aside.
- In a pan, heat oil and add onions, capsicum pieces and green peas.
- Add ginger garlic paste and fry till it's raw flavor is cooked.
- Drop sliced potatoes and sprinkle salt and turmeric powder, mix well.
- Cover the pan with a lid and cook till potato slices are cooked.
- Sprinkle garam masala powder and red chilli powder, mix well.
- Add cooked rice and mix well, cook for a minute.
- When you are about to remove from heat, add little lemon extract and garnish Potato rice recipe with coriander leaves.

How to Make Potato Rice Recipe:
- Wash and cook the rice separately, make sure that it’s nonstick.
Tip: While cooking you can add bay leaf and add more water when rice is cooked remove excess water and put it on a clean cloth under the fan.
- Heat oil in a pan and add 1 spoon of oil and onions, sauté for a while.
- Slice capsicum into small pieces, add them and also add sprouted green peas.
Note: You can even add fresh green peas. (not sprouted)
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for a while.
- Slice potatoes into small pieces as they need to be cooked, add them.
- Add turmeric powder and salt. Saute for a while and keep the lid and cook on low heat.
- Once potatoes turn tender, add red chili powder and garam masala powder. Mix well.
Tip: You can substitute with biryani masala instead of garam masala.
- If you have already cooked rice it well and good or else cook rice.
Tip: we can use basmati rice for this recipe.
- Potato Capsicum Rice is almost done, sprinkle a half piece of lemon juice and mix well.
- Garnish Potato Rice Recipe with coriander leaves and serve hot.
Tip: If you are going to pack this recipe to eat outdoor, then it should be cooled.
