Usually, during the winter season, we all love to eat spicy foods in the evenings. Instead of making snacks packed with cholesterol, it’s a good idea to give healthy and nutritious food to our children.
Whether you call this recipe simply Masala corn | sweet corn chaat | butter corn whatever the name it is, your children love to eat it. Also, they are soft to eat and have sweet, spicy and tangy flavours.
Because of its spicy and tangling flavors, even cinema halls and shopping malls started selling them by giving space to sell this recipe. Chaat sellers add peri-peri sauce or sometimes add chilli sauce to give a spicy flavour.
Unlike desi corn, sweet corn is available all the time either fresh or frozen so we can make this recipe at any time in less than 15 minutes.
To give eye compelling look and make it more nutritious we can even add spring onions, carrot grate, broccoli, onions etc. only thing we have to take care of is that this recipe tastes great only when it’s warm.
Tips to make the perfect masala corn recipe:
- We can either cook sweet corn directly without removing kernels or remove kernels and cook separately.
- Sweet corn is soft so they take less time to cook. To check whether they are cooked or not, check with two fingers.
- If you have cooked whole sweet corn and removed kernels then try to remove them while they are hot so that when butter is put over them, it melts.
- Do not put lemon juice and fry, it turns bitter.
- To experience the flavours of Sweet Corn Chaat always serve while it’s hot.

Ingredients
- Sweet Corn kernels – 1 bowl
- Water – 1 bowl
- Salt – 1 tbsp.
- Fresh Butter – 1-inch size
- Onions – 1 cup
- Tomato – 1 No. Medium size
- Capsicum – 1 tbsp.
- Red chilli powder – ¼ tbsp.
- Black pepper powder – ¼ tbsp.
- Chat masala – ½ tbsp.
- Rock salt – ¼ tbsp.
- Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp.
- Lemon extract – ½ piece
- Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp.
Instructions
- Let’s start with boiling sweet corn. Remove kernels separately and boil them in a vessel by adding little water and salt for 5 minutes.
- Unlike desi, sweet corn doesn’t require more time and water to boil.
- Check kernels with fingers, if they turn soft, remove them from flame and drain excess water using a skillet.
- Heat oil or butter in a pan. If using butter spread over the pan.
- Add drained kernels, tomatoes, onions, capsicum and sauté for a while till onions turn soft.
- Sprinkle chat masala, red chilli powder, rock salt and normal salt as per taste and black pepper to increase spicy touch.
- Add tomato ketchup and increase flame and toss all ingredients for a second and off the flame.
- Squeeze half piece lemon to give tangling flavour and garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve masala corn recipe while they are warm to experience its perfect flavours.

How to make Masala Corn Recipe:
1. Boil 1 bowl water and add ¼ tbsp. salt and add sweet corn kernels and cook for 5 minutes with lid covered.
2. Usually, sweet corn kernels are soft when compared to desi kernels so they get cooked in less time and water. To check them press with fingers.
3. Put kernels in a skillet and drain excess water so that they can be fried.
4. Heat the pan and add a small cube of fresh butter and let it melt over the pan.
5. Add boiled kernels, onions, tomato and capsicum pieces.
6. Sprinkle ¼ tbsp. salt, red chilli powder, black pepper powder and chat masala.
7. Add rock salt and tomato ketchup to give a sweet and tangling flavour. Mix well and off the flame.
8. Squeeze lemon extract and sprinkle coriander leaves. Mix well and serve masala corn recipe hot.
