- When making vada’s for the kofta recipe, we need not worry about making them hard balls.
- We need to cook for 5-10 minutes based on the softness of vada or else they split and become mushy.

Fish Egg Kofta Recipe is made using Fish roe fritters dipped in delicious and spicy gravy.
Ingredients
- Fish Eggs – 250 gms.
- Turmeric powder – ½ tbsp.
- Salt – 1 tbsp.
- Red chilli powder – ¾ tbsp.
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp.
- Garam masala powder – 1 ½ tbsp.
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
- Onions – ½ cup finely sliced
- Onions – 1 cup to make a paste
- Green chillies – 3 No.
- Besan flour – 2 tbsp.
- Mint leaves – 1 tbsp.
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp.
- Rice flour – 1 tbsp.
- Tomatoes – 1 cup
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp.
- Water – 2 glasses.
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp.
Instructions
- Gently clean fish eggs so that membrane does not come out while washing them.
- Put them in a mixing bowl and add small quantities of turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, garam masala powder, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste, mint leaves, coriander leaves, besan flour and rice flour.
- Mix all ingredients and heat oil in a pan to make a fish vada recipe.
- Gently put vada batter in small quantities to form a round shape and deep fry.
- Flip and deep fry till they turn golden brown colour and remove from oil.
- Transfer vada on a plate and keep aside to put them in kofta masala.
- In a mixer grinder put onions and tomatoes separately and make a soft paste of them.
- Heat little oil on a pan and add jeera, onion paste. Mix and cook till it turns colour.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree and cook for a while till tomatoes turn soft and oil oozes out.
- Sprinkle small quantities of coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder and 2 glass full water.
- Mix all ingredients and bring this mix to boil with lid covered.
- Add fish egg vada and green chillies. Cook for 5 minutes so that vada absorbs the flavours of spices and we get a thick gravy.
- Sprinkle 1 tbsp. Garam masala powder and garnish Fish Egg Kofta recipe with coriander leaves and mix well.

How to make Fish Egg Kofta Recipe:
1. Gently clean fish eggs and put them in a mixing bowl, add ¼ tbsp. turmeric powder, ½ tbsp. salt and ¼ tbsp. red chilli powder.
2. Add ½ tbsp. coriander powder, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste and sliced onions.
3. Put finely sliced green chillies, besan flour, mint leaves and coriander leaves.
4. Mix all ingredients and based on the consistency add rice flour and mix well.
5. Heat oil in a pan and bring it to the optimum temperature to fry vada.
6. Take a small portion of batter and put vada in oil and deep fry till they turn a golden brown colour.
7. Remove from oil and drain excess oil. Transfer to another plate and keep aside.
8. Add onions to a mixer grinder and make a paste. Similarly, add tomatoes to the same grinder and make tomato puree.
9. Heat 2 tbsp. Oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and onion paste. Saute for a while.
10. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a while, add tomato puree and mix well.
11. Sprinkle ½ tbsp. Salt, ¼ tbsp. Turmeric powder, ½ tbsp. Red chilli powder and ½ tbsp. Coriander powder.
12. Add 2 glasses of water and close the lid. Bring this mix to a boil.
13. Put deep fried vada in this stew and add 2 No. Green chillies. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes so that vada absorbs the spice mix.
14. Sprinkle 1 tbsp. Garam masala powder and coriander leave and mix well. Serve Fish Egg Kofta recipe accompanied with chapati or with steam rice.
