Best Drumstick Tomato Curry Andhra Style

One can make Mulakkada tomato Kura with fewer ingredients. We can add vegetables like brinjal or potatoes to this recipe or add boiled eggs. When we add appropriate proportions of tomato and onions then the flavour of this recipe gets enhanced.
In order to obtain gravy, we have added a generous quantity of tomato and onions, tomatoes give you a tangling flavour whereas onions compensate with a sweet flavour.
Apart from the flavours, this recipe is light on digestion and is packed with nutrients, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and dietary fiber. Choosing drumsticks while cooking these recipes matters, if they are tenders then we need not remove their skin; if they are hard then cooking those takes time.

Drumstick Tomato Curry is one of the simple Andhra recipes made with tender drumsticks, tomatoes and onions as main ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 No. Drumsticks whole sticks
- 3 tbsp. Oil
- ½ tbsp. Mustard seeds
- ½ tbsp. Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp. Moong dal
- ¾ Large bowl Onions
- 6 No. Green chillies
- ½ tbsp. Turmeric powder
- 1¼ tbsp. Salt
- ¾ Large bowl Tomatoes
- ¾ tbsp. Red chilli powder
- 200 ml. Water
- ½ tbsp. Garam masala powder
- 2 tbsp. Coriander leaves
Instructions
- In a pan add oil and once it heats up add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and moong dal.
- Once mustard seeds splutter add sliced onion pieces and green chillies and sauté them till they turn their colour to translucent.
- Choose tender drumsticks and cut them into small pieces of your desired size.
- Add them into onions and add little salt and turmeric powder, mix well.
- Let drumsticks get cooked on low temperature with lid covered for 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes and again cook for 5 minutes with lid covered.
- Once tomatoes turn soft add red chilli powder, water and cook further till drum sticks turn soft.
- Once you get thick gravy, add little garam masala powder and mix well.
- Add little coriander leaves and mix.
- Serve Munakkada tomato kura or Drumstick tomato curry hot accompanied with rice or roti.

How to make Drumstick Tomato Curry:
- Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and moong dal.
- Slice onions into thin slices and add them.
- Add green chillies and sauté for a while till they turn translucent.
- Cut drumsticks into small pieces by removing their skin and putting them.
- Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt, and mix well.
- Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
- Add sliced tomatoes and cook further for 5 minutes with the lid covered till tomatoes turn soft.
- Sprinkle red chilli powder and add a little water and cook further for 5 minutes with the lid covered.
- By this time drumsticks get cooked and you get good gravy.
- Sprinkle a little garam masala powder and mix well.
- Add coriander leaves and mix well.
- Serve Drumstick Tomato Curry with plain rice or with chapatti.
