Easy Cluster Beans Fry Recipe: Goruchikkudu Kobbari Fry
Cluster Beans Fry Recipe or Goruchikkudu Kobbari Fry or Gawar Phali Fry whatever the name, it is mostly made as a curry or fry recipe. Unlike other bean family, they are a bit hard but rich in fiber content.
As mentioned above Gawar Phali Fry or any other curry is made only when they are cooked separately I mean they are boiled by adding little salt because they not only get cooked but the salt will remove their raw flavour.
In order to remove a fraction of the raw flavour of fiber, we add coconut grate and spice powder to enhance the flavour of the recipe. Based on the region and your taste buds you may add or lower the spiciness of this recipe.

Ingredients
- Cluster Beans/ Goruchikkudu/ Gawar Phali – 250 gms.
- Water – 2 glasses
- Salt – 1 ¼ tbsp.
- Oil – 4 tbsp.
- Chana dal – 2 tbsp.
- Mustard seeds – ½ tbsp.
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp.
- Garlic cloves – 20 No.
- Onion pieces – 1 bowl
- Curry leaves – ½ bowl
- Turmeric powder – ¾ tbsp.
- Dry red chilies – 5 No.
- Fresh Coconut grate – ½ cup.
- Garam masala powder – ½ tbsp.
Instructions
Wash goru chikkudu in water and remove thread-like fiber from both the sides and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
In a bowl add little water, salt and put goru chikkudu in water and boil for 5-10 minutes based on the tenderness.
Tip: To check whether they are cooked or not pierce with two fingers.
Transfer them to skillet and drain excessive water and keep aside.
In a pan, heat oil, add chana dal, little cumin seeds, crushed garlic, mustard seeds and onions.
Saute for a while, add curry leaves and boiled cluster beans, sprinkle little salt and cook on low heat.
Meanwhile, let us prepare spice powder. In a blender add dry red chillies and cumin seeds and make coarse powder.
Grate fresh coconut and add to fry. Coconut grate not only absorbs spices but also enhances flavour of the recipe.
Sprinkle above spice powder and little garam masala powder or coriander powder (optional) and mix well.
Cluster Beans Fry Recipe or Goruchikkudu fry tastes great when served hot with chapatti or with plain rice.

How to Make Cluster Beans Fry Recipe:
1. Remove the fiber of the beans and break them into 1-inch pieces.
2. Put beans in water and clean them to remove any chemicals or dust particles.
3. Transfer into a cooking bowl and put 2 glasses full water, add ¾ tbsp. salt and boil them.
4. Once beans are boiled, check them by piercing them with your fingers.
5. Transfer beans into skillet and drain water.
6. Add oil in a pan, put chana dal, mustard seeds and ½ tbsp. cumin seeds.
7. Continue adding crushed garlic, onions, curry leaves and turmeric powder
8. Add boiled beans and mix well.
9. Sprinkle ½ tbsp. salt and cook at low temperature.
Preparation of spice powder for Goruchikkudu Kobbari Fry:
10. Add dry red chilies and cumin seeds in a blender and make powder, keep aside.
11. Take fresh coconut and grate finely. Add this coconut grate to beans.
12. Add previously made ground spice powder and garam masala powder and mix well.
13. Serve Cluster Beans Fry Recipe or Goruchikkudu kobbari fry hot with plain rice or chapatti.
