Usually, this recipe has a bit spicy with mild sweetness because of onions and tomato sauce. Most of the time we find this recipe dry or juicy so people like to have it as a starter or munching snack along with beverages.
Looking at its dark colour in restaurants we might get to the conclusion that this is a spicy recipe but the fact is that they add food colours. We tried to give natural colour by adding Kashmiri red colour and a bit of tomato sauce. If you want to reduce the brownish colour then lower the soya sauce.
Have you tried eating on the streets, you might have observed that few people stuff chilli chicken recipes inside chapati and roll. Of course, they put egg omelette mixture over chapati and fry them with butter or ghee to enhance flavour.
Tips to make a perfect chilly chicken recipe:
- Use boneless chicken with cube shape cutting to get a nice texture.
- To get a soft and juicy texture we must marinate chicken for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Adding cornflour liquid gives us a juicy texture but adding more cornflour will give a sticky texture so be careful adding cornflour juice.
- Adding sesame seeds will give a nutty texture, so we can add them or just skip this ingredient.
- Garnishing with spring onions will not only give good look but give a nice flavour.

Ingredients
- Boneless Chicken – 300 gms.
- Salt – 1 tbsp.
- Kashmiri Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp.
- Black pepper powder – ½ tbsp.
- Ginger garlic paste – ½ tbsp.
- Soya sauce – 2 tbsp.
- Vinegar – 2 tbsp.
- All-purpose flour/ maida – 3 tbsp.
- Ajinomoto/ tasting salt – ¼ tbsp.
- Egg – 1 No.
- Oil – to deep fry
- Garlic – 1 tbsp.
- Green chillies – 1 tbsp.
- Onions – 2 tbsp.
- Capsicum – 1 small size
- Spring onions – 4 tbsp.
- White pepper powder – ¼ tbsp.
- Green chilli sauce – 1 tbsp.
- Red chilli sauce – 1 tbsp.
- Tomato sauce – 2 tbsp.
- Corn flour – 1 tbsp.
- Water – 50 ml.
Instructions
- Take the boneless chicken and cut it into 1-inch size pieces. Add to mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, a little salt and black pepper powder.
- Continue adding maida, soya sauce, vinegar, Ajinomoto and one egg.
- Mix all ingredients and marinate for 30 minutes to an hour at room temperature.
- In a deep Kadai heat oil to deep fry, once oil is ready, put marinated chicken and deep fry till they turn a golden brown colour. Remove from oil and keep aside.
- Heat little oil in a pan and put minced chillies, garlic and onions. Mix.
- Add capsicum, spring onions, black pepper powder, white pepper powder, salt, red chilli sauce, tomato sauce and green chilli sauce.
- Put vinegar and soya sauce. Sprinkle little tasting salt and cook for a while.
- To give silky texture mix 1 tbsp. corn flour with little water and put this concentration and bring it to boil.
- Put chicken pieces and mix till all spices are coated well and cook for a while till it becomes dry.
- Garnish spring onions over Chilli Chicken Recipe and serve hot.

How to make chilli chicken recipe:
1. Slice chicken into1-inch size pieces and put them in a mixing bowl.
2. Sprinkle ½ tbsp. salt, red chilli powder, ¼ tbsp. black pepper powder and ginger garlic paste.
3. Add 1 tbsp. soya sauce, vinegar, maida and a pinch of Ajinomoto for flavour.
4. Break one egg and mix all ingredients. Marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature.
5. Heat oil in a deep Kadai and put marinated chicken pieces and deep fry till they turn a golden brown colour.
6. Add 2 tbsp. oil in a pan, finely sliced garlic, green chillies and onions.
7. Put capsicum, 2 tbsp. spring onions sprinkle ½ tbsp. salt and ¼ tbsp. black pepper powder.
8. Add white pepper powder, green chilli sauce, red chilli sauce and 1 tbsp. soya sauce.
9. Put tomato sauce, vinegar and a pinch of Ajinomoto. Mix well.
10. Add 1 tbsp. cornflour and little water, mix well. Put cornflour liquid in the above sauce mix.
11. Put fried chicken pieces and mix well. Garnish chilli chicken recipe with spring onions and serve hot.
