Barbati curry is really very popular in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, and this is a very good dish that holds its value across many parts of India, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.

The key ingredients used for the recipe are yardlong beans, tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger, spices, and oil. The beans are trimmed and then cut into pieces which are 1 inch long. The tomatoes are diced, while the onions and garlic are minced. Ginger is grated.

Aforementioned spices are again diverse and usually depend on the regional and personal taste of a cook. Common ones include haldi powder, dhania powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and garam masala.
Heat oil in pan for making the barbati curry. Onions, garlic added and cooked. When it is soft, add ginger and cook for one more minute. Add spices and sauté for just a few seconds. Tips to make barbati curry:

Use fresh, soft yardlong beans. The beans should not be too hard to digest; otherwise, they’ll taste like that-flavourless and tough.

Sauté the onions until they are softened and transparent. That is when its sweetness and flavour gets released naturally.

Do not overcook the beans or it’ll be mush. It will be tender still but will have a bit of bite in it.

Lastly, decorate it with the leaves of cilantro for the brightness of the dish, freshness.

You can also include other vegetables like carrots, potatoes, or peas in curry,

Add meat of your choice or chicken, lamb, or tofu.
Utilize canned tomatoes if you don’t have the time. For all’s sake, fresh tomatoes are also required also.
You also prepare the curry in a slow cooker. That is very easy because you just add everything inside, and everything else will be taken care of by the slow cooker. All you need to do is just put the mix inside your slow cooker and let it cook for 6-8 hours on low.
